Colloidal Silver & Silver Salts Poisoning
Colloidal silver is microscopic particles of silver suspended in a liquid, usually water. The word "colloid" means particles that remain suspended in a dissolved solution. The definition of "colloidal silver" includes products that contain ionic silver, silver colloids, ionic silver compounds or silver proteins in purified water in differing concentrations of silver. Currently, colloidal silver is marketed in many health food and vitamin foods and over the internet as an alternative medical remedy, though there is no scientific evidence of its effectiveness for any medical condition. The danger of colloidal silver is that excessive use can result in silver toxicity causing a rare skin disease called argyria.

Colloidal Silver Side Effects - Argyria
Colloidal silver products are legally available in the United States and sold as a dietary supplement. It is illegal in the U.S. for marketers to make claims of medical effectiveness for colloidal silver, though many sellers of colloidal silver products claim that it helps prevent colds and flu, and in the treatment of diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, high blood pressure / hypertension, lupus, HIV/AIDS, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, anthrax, prostate problems, gangrene, gulf war syndrome, lymes disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) and even cancer. There is no medical evidence that colloidal silver is effective for any of these claimed indications or medical diseases or illnesses. Silver is not an essential mineral in humans and there is no dietary requirement for silver. Despite claims to the contrary, the body does not have a medical need for silver and the term "silver deficiency" doesn't exist. Currently, there are no evidence-based medical uses for colloidal silver.
Argyria From Silver Toxicity
Excessive intake of silver products may result in a condition known as argyria, one symptom of which is blue or gray discoloration of the skin. The blue gray discoloration occurs when silver is deposited in the skin and then darkened by sunlight. This is the same process as silver particles in photographic film darken when exposed to sunlight. Localized argyria can occur as a result of topical use of silver-containing remedies, while generalized argyria results from the ingestion of colloidal silver. Argyria is usually permanent, and there is no known effective treatment, though new efforts to use lasers can help. While argyria usually limited to skin discoloration, there are isolated reports of more serious neurological, renal, or hepatic complications and even a report of a death from complications.
Argyria is also referred to as the "disease of the living dead" or "disease of the walking dead"" People with arygia in fact look dead because of the greyish blue color of their skin associated with lack of oxygen or blood flow to the skin. This silver poisoning is permanent and arygria prevents the victims from going out in the sunlight, otherwise the patient risks darkening their tint or skin color. People with Argyria may also be unable to get any type of diagnostic testing done like a MRI scan or CAT Scan as a result of the metal in body & skin.
